GEORGE TOWN, December 12 – Penang Hill Corporation (PHC), in collaboration with Rapid Penang and supported by the Penang State Government, is excited to announce the return of the Penang Hill Free Shuttle Service. Following its successful debut during Hari Raya Aidilfitri last April, the service aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the surrounding areas and promote a green initiative by reducing carbon emissions in the Air Itam area.
The complimentary shuttle will operate from December 23, 2023, to January 1, 2024, offering wheelchair-friendly features for passengers with specific accessibility needs. Operating from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, the shuttle will provide eight daily trips in both directions at intervals of 1 hour and 30 minutes. Passengers can board the shuttle at the Jalan Ria bus stop to reach Penang Hill Lower Station and vice versa. In cases of maximum capacity, visitors are encouraged to use the existing Rapid bus number 204 or GrabCar with the promo code ‘GRAB2PGHILL,’ providing an alternative transportation solution at a reduced rate.
With an expected surge in visitors during the year-end school holidays, the Penang Hill Free Shuttle Service addresses parking limitations and roadside over-parking issues, contributing to reduced traffic congestion. PHC encourages visitors to embrace this free shuttle service, ensuring a sustainable and enjoyable experience at Penang Hill during the festive season.
