GEORGE TOWN, December 15 – Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) has announced a scheduled 12-hour water supply interruption from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Approximately 9,000 consumers in the vicinity of Lebuhraya Thean Teik and nearby areas in Air Itam will be temporarily affected.
The interruption is essential for connecting diverted water supply pipelines, a crucial step in facilitating the ongoing “Lebuhraya Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu to Air Itam Flyover” construction project led by the Penang State Government under BPEN (Bahagian Pembangunan Ekonomi Negeri). Pipeline connection works will be conducted at five points across two locations, specifically the Lebuhraya Thean Teik/Lintang Angsana intersection and the Lebuhraya Thean Teik/Farlim Market intersection.
PBAPP recognizes the inconvenience this may cause and emphasizes that the interruption is crucial to ensure optimal water supply services during and after the flyover construction. To mitigate the impact, affected consumers are advised to store sufficient water for use during the interruption period. PBAPP apologizes for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding of the community in light of these essential infrastructure developments.
