KUALA LUMPUR, January 2 – Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has firmly denied any association with the rumored “Dubai Move,” an alleged plot to overthrow Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s government. Ismail, who refuted the claims as slander, clarified that he was not aware of any such movement and had not visited Dubai. Instead, he highlighted that he was in Mecca and Medina with his family, performing the umrah pilgrimage. Ismail returned to Kuala Lumpur from Mecca immediately after completing the umrah on December 31, questioning the validity of the allegations surrounding his supposed involvement.

Ismail Sabri’s special officer, Affifi Aris, further substantiated Ismail’s position, asserting that Ismail had a direct flight to Kuala Lumpur without stopping in Dubai after completing the umrah pilgrimage. The speculation surrounding the “Dubai Move” emerged from discussions between opposition leaders and specific government representatives during a recent visit to the United Arab Emirates. The alleged purpose of the meeting was to designate “agents” responsible for identifying MPs who might switch their support to the opposition, with the goal of forming a new government.
