KUALA LUMPUR, January 15 – To facilitate the Thaipusam celebration on January 25, the Klang Valley KTM commuters will enjoy free train rides on January 24 and 25, announced Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook. Approximately 250,000 passengers are expected during this period, with additional KTM Komuter services operating 24 hours for four days from January 23 to January 26.

A total of 28 stations will be operational around the clock during this festive period, and the Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang route will have 33 trains, while the Batu Caves-Port Klang route will have 39 trains. The additional commuter services and extended operating hours aim to accommodate the increased travel demand during Thaipusam. The free train rides and extended services are part of the efforts to provide convenient transportation for Thaipusam participants and attendees.

The KTM services will include four additional ETS (Electric Train Service) services between KL Sentral and Butterworth, as well as Padang Besar, with 3,150 additional tickets available from January 24 to January 28. Free RapidKL bus services will also be offered in Kuala Lumpur and Penang on January 24 and 25, covering routes to areas where the Thaipusam celebration will take place. This initiative aims to enhance mobility and accessibility for those participating in the cultural festivities.
