KIALA LUMPUR, January 23 – In a groundbreaking move, the Malaysian government has collaborated with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM), the Malaysian Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA), and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) to revolutionize the licensed manufacturer warehouse goods release system. This bold initiative has dramatically reduced processing time from three days to just one minute, showcasing a commitment to efficiency and optimal time utilization.

The Director-General of MPC emphasized the pivotal role of time in creating lasting change, stressing its continuous nature and its significance in evaluating productivity performance. The reform not only enhances the competitive edge for Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) companies, transportation operators, and port activities but also results in substantial annual cost savings of up to RM200 million for LMW companies, achieved through reduced storage and compliance costs. The reform by JKDM brings swift movement to goods within the supply chain, benefiting companies, transportation operators, and port activities alike.

This seamless ecosystem in the supply chain contributes to strengthened productivity growth, economic development, and the creation of new job opportunities. Efficient, reliable delivery not only fosters better relationships between companies and consumers but also attracts new customers and business partners. As the government and private sector join forces in assessing and managing time efficiently, this reform serves as a model for achieving unprecedented levels of productivity and efficiency, crucial for Malaysia’s global competitiveness and economic growth as outlined in the MADANI economic framework.
