KUALA LUMPUR, February 1 – Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, the secretary-general of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), has unequivocally expressed confidence in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s continued leadership within the party. Following a special meeting of the Bersatu Supreme Council, Hamzah stressed that maintaining Muhyiddin as the leader is pivotal to bolstering the party’s credibility, firmness, and courage in opposition to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s government.
The decision comes amid internal discussions within the party, with speculation about potential changes arising after Muhyiddin initially signaled his intention to step down at the next party congress. Despite these internal deliberations and a handful of Bersatu lawmakers declaring support for Anwar, the party’s leadership remains steadfast in its commitment to Muhyiddin. The unified stance aims to address perceived challenges posed by Anwar’s government and underscores the party’s determination to navigate through this political landscape under Muhyiddin’s leadership.
