GEORGE TOWN, February 5 – Advantech, a global leader in Industrial IoT, officially launched the ASEAN Shared Service Center (ASSC) in Penang, Malaysia, aiming to enhance customer service across the Asia-Pacific region. The ASSC’s maiden project involves a collaboration with Piacom, a system integrator linked to Vietnamese petroleum group Petrolimex, signifying Advantech’s commitment to localized services and industry-academia collaboration.
Penang’s strategic selection, known as the “Silicon Valley of the East,” positions the ASSC to reinforce regional core competencies and cultivate a diverse talent pool. Vincent Chang, Managing Director of Asia and Intercontinental Region at Advantech, emphasized the practicality of the Domain Solution Integration Team, showcasing its effectiveness in the LOI with Piacom for the gas station industry. The team supports industrial users in project implementation and development.
Underlining the company’s dedication to talent development, Advantech’s University Co-Creation (UCC) Worldwide Expansion Plan targets the establishment of 12 AIoT laboratories globally within two years. This comprehensive plan involves standardized IoT Course Modules, online courses, training kits, and collaboration with universities to support industry-academia collaboration programs. ASSC, beyond offering repair and maintenance services, operates as a production hub focusing on Southeast Asian countries, contributing to the complete industry ecosystem.
