GEORGE TOWN, February 7 – Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and China, the “Festival of Spring” Chinese New Year Gala 2024 is more than a milestone; it’s a symbol of enduring cultural ties. Organized by the Penang Chinese Town Hall, supported by the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Penang and the Penang State Government, this gala is set to take place on February 24, 2024, at Dewan Sri Pinang, featuring the prestigious “Festival of Spring” Art Troupe from China.
Acknowledging spatial constraints, the Penang State EXCO office for Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) ensures inclusivity through a live stream at Esplanade, starting from 5:00 PM. The festivities at Esplanade offer a diverse array of activities, including acrobatic lion dances, Sichuan mask-changing shows, Chinese orchestra performances, Dondang Sayang Malay artistry, live bands, illuminated LED dragon dances, fire juggling, and the traditional “tossing mandarin orange” activity at 5:30 PM. As Penang welcomes the Lunar New Year, visitors are invited to partake in the multicultural harmony, with warm wishes for prosperity and joy in the Year of the Dragon.
