KUALA LUMPUR, February 8 –The Malaysian government, in a bid to celebrate the Chinese New Year festivity and extend goodwill to all citizens, has announced toll exemption for Class 1 vehicles (private vehicles) on February 8th and 9th, 2024. This decision, reached during a Cabinet Meeting on February 7th, 2024, reflects the government’s commitment to the welfare of its people and its ongoing efforts to alleviate the cost of living.

Toll exemption will be applicable on all highways starting from 12:01 a.m. on February 8th, 2024 (Thursday) until 11:59 p.m. on February 9th, 2024 (Friday), with an estimated financial implication of RM42.99 million. The exemption applies to Class 1 vehicles at all toll plazas EXCEPT at the country’s border toll plazas, namely the Sultan Iskandar Building Toll Plaza (BSI) and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza, Johor Darul Takzim. This initiative by the government underscores its empathy and desire to share in the joy of the Malaysian people as they celebrate the Chinese New Year.

With this toll exemption, highway users are encouraged to plan their journeys wisely, prioritize safety, and adhere to travel time advisories. Additionally, users are advised to ensure sufficient credit in their Touch ‘n Go cards or eWallets for a seamless travel experience.
