Italy is set to host the World Skate Games Italia 2024, an extraordinary event featuring 156 World Champion titles across 12 different sports. Following the success of previous editions in Nanjing, Barcelona, and Buenos Aires, this year’s event is scheduled to take place from September 6th to 22nd. The World Skate Games will bring together over 12,000 participants, including athletes, coaches, and delegations from 100 countries, along with tens of thousands of fans.
The event aims to showcase the universal appeal of skating wheels, encompassing urban, high-speed, team, and artistic disciplines. The dynamic and sustainable event will captivate audiences, especially the youth, leveraging the popularity of skating wheels sports, as demonstrated during the Tokyo Olympic Games. Skateboarding emerged as one of the top sports in terms of social media audience engagement. The competition will feature sports like skateboarding, roller freestyle, scootering, speed skating, skate-cross, downhill, slalom, rink hockey, inline hockey, roller derby, and artistic skating.
Sabatino Aracu, President of the International Federation World Skate, emphasizes that it won’t merely be the World Championships but a true festival of youth, with events taking place at the heart of Italian cities amid the country’s cultural heritage. Italian Minister for Sports and Youth, Andrea Abodi, highlights the significance of the World Skate Games in promoting roller sports and enhancing the Italian system.
