KUALA LUMPUR, February 15 – In a significant revelation during Najib Razak’s trial over 1MDB funds misappropriation, former 1MDB general counsel Jasmine Loo testified that fugitive financier Jho Low claimed money directed to Najib’s accounts originated from 1MDB subsidiaries and was intended for Barisan Nasional, Najib’s political coalition. Loo detailed how Low assured her that Najib was aware of and complicit in the transactions, implying that they were executed following Najib’s directives. However, Najib’s defense raised objections to Loo’s testimony, labeling it hearsay.

Loo’s testimony shed light on the close relationship between Low and Najib, indicating that significant 1MDB decisions required Low’s approval before being brought to Najib. She described instances where she handed over 1MDB documents for Najib’s signature to Low outside Najib’s residence. These revelations provide further insight into the intricate web of transactions and influence surrounding 1MDB, implicating both Low and Najib in the alleged financial misconduct.
