KUALA LUMPUR, February 18 – Despite external challenges, Malaysia’s economy saw a 3% growth in the fourth quarter of 2023, fueled by robust domestic demand and a 5.2% increase in Q4. This rebound, though slightly below the forecasted 4% in Budget 2024, signals a positive trend for the nation’s economic recovery. Spearheaded by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the MADANI Government aims to accelerate economic reforms in 2024 under the MADANI Economy framework to stimulate growth and achieve social justice.
With a focus on reducing the fiscal deficit, reallocating subsidies, and driving investments in high-value-added industries, the government aims to create more high-income job opportunities and bolster Malaysia’s economic resilience. These efforts are crucial in navigating systemic challenges and fostering sustainable growth in the coming years.
