GEORGE TOWN, February 19 – Weld Quay in Penang witnessed a vibrant celebration as thousands of ethnic Chinese of Hokkien descent gathered to mark the Jade Emperor’s birthday on Saturday night. The annual Thnee Kong Seh, or Jade Emperor’s Birthday celebration, known locally as Bai Tian Gong, has been a tradition in Penang for 117 years.
