The temporary closure aims to ensure the funicular system’s optimal performance and safety standards. Supervised by engineers from Garaventa AG in Switzerland, the maintenance includes comprehensive checks and upkeep procedures to uphold stringent safety compliance.
During the maintenance period, visitors can utilize alternative transportation options such as the jeep service operated by the Penang Hill Jeep Service Association, reachable at 012-4541255, located at the Rifle Club Car Park (Penang Botanic Gardens). Alternatively, hiking enthusiasts can explore the existing hiking routes to access the summit area of Penang Hill.
