KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 — Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad announced today that the Madani Medical Scheme requires immediate review as its allocated funds are projected to be depleted by next month, far ahead of schedule.

Dzulkefly revealed that the scheme has already utilized RM78.73 million of its RM100 million allocation, indicating a critical need for reassessment to ensure its sustainability. Launched to provide minor treatment at private clinics for the B40 group, the scheme’s future is now uncertain due to its rapid expenditure.

Responding to concerns raised by PAS’s Kuala Nerus MP Datuk Alias Razak, who questioned the alleged termination of the scheme in certain districts despite the allocated budget, Dzulkefly clarified that the scheme’s continuation with private clinics remains intact. However, he stressed the necessity of a comprehensive review to optimize its effectiveness and financial viability amidst rising expenses.
