KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 – The Royal Selangor Visitor Centre commemorates its 20th anniversary in 2024, celebrating two decades of excellence in preserving the art of pewter crafting and showcasing Malaysia’s rich heritage. Established in 2004, the centre has garnered global recognition as a destination for enthusiasts and tourists alike, offering immersive experiences in pewter craftsmanship passed down through generations.
The journey of the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre began in 1972 with the allocation of land in Setapak Jaya for Selangor Pewter, leading to the construction of the Selangor Pewter Complex. The vision for the visitor centre evolved over the years, culminating in its grand opening in 2004, offering an immersive brand experience that narrates historical tales of colonial Malaya’s tin rush and showcases the evolution of arts, culture, and craftsmanship.
Managing Director Dato’ Yong Yoon Li expressed pride in reaching this milestone, highlighting the centre’s role in promoting Malaysian arts, crafts, and culture to the world. To mark the occasion, the centre invites visitors to participate in special events and initiatives throughout the year, including exhibitions, workshops, and exclusive merchandise collections, inviting all to be part of this significant milestone in Malaysia’s heritage. – BERNAMA
