GEORGE TOWN, March 7 — Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced that the Penang state government is set to meet with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to discuss technical details concerning the Penang International Airport (PIA) expansion project. Chow highlighted the need to address compliance issues and other technicalities as discussions progress with MAHB.

Chow expressed gratitude for the Cabinet’s swift approval of the project, signaling the commencement of the tender process. With the estimated cost of RM1 billion to be funded through the Airport Development Fund (ADF), the project is expected to kick off by the third quarter of this year, ultimately increasing PIA’s capacity from 6.5 million to 12 million passengers annually.
