GEORGE TOWN, March 15 – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has appealed to corporate entities to provide financial backing to ensure the continuity of the Penang Future Foundation (PFF) scholarships. With the initial RM40 million fund dwindling, Chow emphasized the necessity of private sector contributions to sustain the scholarship program. Recognizing the pivotal role of the PFF in nurturing local talent for Penang’s industries, Chow stressed the importance of collaboration between the state government and private enterprises.

Since its inception in 2015, the PFF has granted scholarships to 700 students, focusing on disciplines such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Accountancy, and Finance. Chow underscored the program’s success in producing graduates who contribute to Penang’s economy, urging more companies to invest in the initiative. Without continuous support, the upcoming 2024 scholarship award might face jeopardy, highlighting the pressing need for corporate sponsorship to secure the future of deserving students and bolster the region’s talent pool.
