KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 – The Ministry of Transport has refuted recent claims suggesting that Khazanah Nasional Bhd plans to sell its stake in Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook clarified that there has been no official announcement from Khazanah regarding any intention to divest its shareholding in the airport operator, dismissing rumors of such a move.

Loke emphasized that the matter has not been discussed in Cabinet meetings, reaffirming that the equity ownership issue for MAHB to seek strategic partners falls outside the purview of the Transport Ministry. He underscored that Khazanah, as the primary shareholder, holds the responsibility to decide on any potential equity restructuring and would announce any such decisions accordingly. Currently, Khazanah holds the largest stake in MAHB at 32.67 per cent, with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) holding a 7.06 per cent equity interest in the airport operator.
