KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 – Synology, a global leader in data management and security solutions, hosted a media presentation in Kuala Lumpur, gearing up for World Backup Day on March 31st. The event was strategically designed to address the evolving landscape of data management and security trends, with a specific focus on the Malaysian market. Jason Sin, the Country Manager at Synology Malaysia, underscored the remarkable 50% market growth witnessed by Synology last year.

He attributed this growth to the escalating demand from small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and enterprises, particularly within Malaysia. As Malaysia emerges as a pivotal data center hub in the region, there has been a notable surge in demand for Synology’s backup solutions, exceeding 20%. This growth trajectory is further bolstered by government initiatives advocating for a heightened allocation of IT budgets towards security. During the event, attention was drawn to the challenges encountered by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in navigating stricter data governance requirements, especially with the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

Jason Sin stressed the importance for businesses to remain abreast of the evolving trends in data management and security to ensure compliance and safeguard sensitive information. Synology showcased its proprietary backup solutions in a live session, demonstrating practical strategies to mitigate malicious access, tackle accidental deletion and ransomware threats, and streamline data recovery processes. This highlighted the indispensable role of a comprehensive backup strategy in combating ransomware attacks, underlining Synology’s commitment to empowering businesses with cutting-edge data management and security solutions.
