IPOH, March 22 – Zhejiang Sinopont Technology Co., Ltd., a prominent manufacturer of solar encapsulant film based in China, inaugurated its inaugural manufacturing facility outside China in Ipoh, Perak today. The opening ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of the Menteri Besar of Perak State, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, symbolizing a significant milestone in Perak’s industrial development.
Attended by key dignitaries including Perak State EXCO for Tourism, Investment, Industry and Corridor Development YB Loh Sze Yee, Chairman of Zhejiang Sinopont Technology Co., Ltd. Mr. Xianglai Cao, and Director of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Perak Office, Mr. Mohd Fairuz Iqbal Mohd Akhbar, the event marks the commencement of operations for Sinopont Everthriving (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. in Tasek Industrial Park, Ipoh. The facility will initially produce solar cell encapsulant film with a production capacity of 85 million square meters to meet the demand of approximately 10 GW.
With plans for phased expansion, the investment is poised to reach a production capacity of 300 million square meters, catering to about 30 GW demand, solidifying Perak’s position as a strategic hub for the solar industry. The establishment of Zhejiang Sinopont’s manufacturing facility underscores Malaysia’s attractiveness as an investment destination and aligns with the nation’s renewable energy objectives outlined in Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030.
