GEORGE TOWN, March 26 – Penang Hill Corporation (PHC), in partnership with Rapid Penang and with the endorsement of the Penang State Government, proudly announces the return of the Penang Hill Free Shuttle Service. Following a series of successful launches since last year, PHC extends this service to Penang Hill visitors during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. The primary goal of this initiative is to alleviate traffic congestion in the surrounding areas and promote environmentally friendly practices by reducing carbon emissions in the Air Itam region.
The complimentary shuttle service will operate from 10 to 14 April 2024, spanning five days, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., providing eight daily trips in both directions at intervals of 1 hour and 30 minutes. Designed to be wheelchair-friendly, the shuttle bus caters to passengers with specific accessibility needs, ensuring inclusivity for all visitors. Passengers can conveniently access the shuttle service at the designated bus stop on Jalan Ria to reach Penang Hill Lower Station and vice versa.
The shuttle bus, clearly marked as “Penang Hill Free Shuttle Service,” operates at two pick-up and drop-off points: Station 9 at KOMTAR and the bus stop at Penang Hill Lower Station. In the event of full capacity, visitors are encouraged to utilize existing Rapid bus number 204 or GrabCar services with the promo code ‘GRAB2PGHILL’ for a seamless journey to Penang Hill. This initiative aims to address limited parking availability during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays, enhancing the overall visitor experience and contributing to a sustainable and environmentally friendly Penang.
