KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 – In a recent survey conducted by digital travel platform Agoda, it was revealed that 81% of travelers from Malaysia prioritize sustainable travel, signaling a growing awareness of environmental impact among Malaysian tourists. The survey, which polled over ten thousand respondents across Asia, highlighted financial incentives as the top driver for making more sustainable travel choices, with 46% of Malaysian travelers citing discounts as a key factor. Additionally, the availability of sustainable travel packages and clearer guidance on responsible travel practices emerged as influential factors for Malaysian tourists.

Enric Casals, Associate Vice President at Agoda, emphasized the significance of this trend, stating, “The message is loud and clear: Travelers want to make more sustainable choices.” Agoda’s Eco Deals Program, launched on World Wildlife Day, offers travelers attractive deals on selected properties while donating one US dollar to local conservation projects of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) for every booking. With a donation target of up to one million US dollars, Agoda aims to empower travelers to explore the world sustainably while contributing to the preservation of wildlife and critical habitats in Southeast Asia.
