PUTRAJAYA, April 2 – The Energy Commission (EC) and SME Corp. Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the EC Diamond Building today, aiming to expand and continue their collaborative efforts. The MoU encompasses various areas of cooperation, including joint activities for the development programs involving Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as the exchange/sharing of information to ensure effective implementation of agreed policies and programs.
Dato’ Ir. Ts Abdul Razib bin Dawood, Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission, expressed hopes that this MoU would enhance cooperation, particularly in MSME development programs, which also include awareness programs on energy efficiency and electrical and gas pipeline safety among MSMEs. Meanwhile, Mr. Rizal bin Nainy, Chief Executive Officer of SME Corp. Malaysia, highlighted the agency’s role in enhancing awareness of energy efficiency programs through relevant ministries and agencies.
He also emphasized the importance of Energy Management as one of the basic indicators for assessing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices among MSMEs based on the Rapid ESG Guidelines for MSMEs launched by the Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, on February 5, 2024. The signing ceremony saw Dato’ Ir. Ts Abdul Razib bin Dawood representing the Energy Commission and Mr. Rizal bin Nainy representing SME Corp. Malaysia.
