PUTRAJAYA, April 2 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has declared a special Aidilfitri financial aid of RM500 for civil servants on Grade 56 and below, including contract appointees. Additionally, government retirees, including pensionable and non-pensionable veterans, will receive RM250. The aid will be disbursed starting this Friday, April 5, 2024. Prime Minister Anwar emphasized that the special financial assistance considers the escalating cost of living and schooling expenses. He noted that despite the early incentive payment of RM2,000 distributed on February 23, the government remains mindful of the financial challenges faced by its employees.

Anwar underscored that the decision to provide this aid was influenced by feedback received from civil servants during his recent visits to Ramadan bazaars in Pahang and Sarawak. Looking ahead, Anwar expressed optimism about potentially offering additional assistance to the public if political stability prevails, economic policies remain clear, and both domestic and foreign investments increase. The announcement was made during the monthly assembly of the Prime Minister’s Department, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, and Public Service Department director-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.
