REMBAU, April 4 — The decision on whether Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) will contest independently or forge alliances in the upcoming Sabah state election rests with the federal BN leadership, according to BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. He emphasized that Sabah BN must submit its proposal to the central leadership for consideration before any decision is made. While Sabah Umno enjoys administrative autonomy, matters related to elections require approval from the headquarters, Tok Mat explained.
He further highlighted that the final direction for BN parties will be decided by the central leadership, taking into account the prospects of success in the state polls. Tok Mat’s remarks follow discussions between Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and Sabah Umno regarding potential cooperation in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election, scheduled for next year.
