KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 – The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has unveiled a list of 22 essential items covered under the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for Aidilfitri, effective from April 5 to 19. Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali announced the inclusion of items such as various types of meat, fish, vegetables, and condiments, aimed at preventing price manipulation, particularly for high-demand goods.

Implemented under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011, the scheme allows price determination at producer, wholesaler, and retailer levels to ensure affordability and accessibility for consumers. Armizan emphasized continuous monitoring by the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry to ensure adequate supply, while KPDN enforcement officers nationwide will conduct inspections at markets and shopping centers. The selection of items was made through engagement with industry stakeholders, aiming to ease the community’s financial burden during the festive period.

While chicken prices, though not included in SHMMP, are expected to remain stable, consumers are encouraged to report any price hikes through the KPDN portal for prompt action under AKHAP 2011. Additionally, the ongoing Ops Pantau, focusing on monitoring business activities during Ramadan and Syawal, has inspected over 32,000 premises nationwide to ensure compliance with regulations.
