SEBERANG JAYA, April 7 – The Road Transport Department of Penang (JPJ Negeri Pulau Pinang) is intensifying enforcement actions in conjunction with the 2024 Hari Raya Aidilfitri (HRA) celebrations, which will run from April 1 to April 20, 2024, for 18 days excluding the two festive holidays on April 10 and 11, 2024. The objective of the enforcement is to monitor the smooth movement of road users, based on the slogan “Drive Carefully and Arrive Safely,” to minimize accident rates and fatalities due to road accidents effectively and significantly. This enforcement program, known as Ops Khas HRA 2024, involves two phases.

Phase 1 will run from April 1 to April 9, 2024, while Phase 2 will be from April 13 to April 20, 2024. The crackdown targets nine major traffic violations, including speeding, disobeying traffic signals, improper lane changes, and using mobile phones while driving. Additionally, special attention will be given to ensuring compliance with road transport laws and regulations, including vehicle inspections and driver licensing. The JPJ Negeri Pulau Pinang is optimistic that this enforcement operation will contribute to minimizing accidents and fatalities, particularly on major roads and highways, thereby enhancing road safety and the well-being of road users in Malaysia, especially in Penang.
