KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 – Animation has emerged as a potent medium for storytelling worldwide, with Malaysia’s animation industry fostering local talents and solidifying its global presence. From timeless classics like Hikayat Sang Kancil to contemporary digital series like Ejen Ali, Malaysian animation continues to flourish, serving as a conduit for sharing local culture with the world. In line with this, the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF), in collaboration with ANIFEST and PPAM, is launching a short animation film competition aimed at promoting wholesome content values and nurturing creative talents among students of higher learning institutions (IHLs).
Scheduled from April to June 2024, the competition welcomes students from all public and private IHLs in Malaysia, irrespective of their field of study, to showcase their creativity in public service messaging through animation. With a theme centered on “Innovation in Prudent Content Creation,” participants are encouraged to explore sub-themes such as “Ethics in Social Media Use” and “Responsibilities of Content Creators.” The competition not only offers substantial cash prizes but also aims to empower students, educate them on responsible content creation, and provide a platform for community engagement through animation. Through this initiative, the industry hopes to discover new talents and deliver impactful messages to promote unity and positive social change.
