GEORGE TOWN, April 15 – The Democratic Action Party (DAP) expressed disappointment over the failure of Heng Ee branch to obtain administrative independence approval, despite efforts from various leaders including ministers. Particularly disheartening was the lack of concrete proposals from MCA’s Chen De Qin, who instead issued a political statement devoid of strategies to secure administrative independence for Heng Ee amidst this turmoil. Heng Ee’s attainment of administrative independence during the Pakatan Harapan administration in just 22 months was initially a beacon of hope in the education sector.
However, this decision was overturned following the political upheaval, resulting in the cancellation of the branch’s new permit. With Malaysia’s political landscape evolving under a unity government, there remains hope for Heng Ee’s new permit. DAP, having successfully secured administrative independence for Heng Ee in 2018, remains confident in its ability to do so once again. As the journey to secure administrative independence for Heng Ee continues, DAP welcomes input and collaboration from all parties, including MCA, to achieve this goal and contribute to the development of Chinese education.
The ball is now in MCA’s court to decide whether to transcend politics and collaborate with DAP or continue engaging in political rhetoric instead of genuine efforts to support the Chinese community and education. – Wang Yuhang, Democratic Action Party, State Assemblyman for Pengkalan Kota constituency.
