GEORGE TOWN, April 15 — Following the federal government’s approval of an immediate allocation of RM11 million for the Bayan Lepas Health Clinic (Type 2) project, the Penang government is now assessing the facilities to be upgraded at the clinic. State Youth, Sports, and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the allocation and stated that details would be announced after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Gooi highlighted the necessity for renovations and upgrades at the clinic to enhance public health services accessibility, especially considering the distance residents of Bayan Lepas must travel to reach the nearest hospital in the Barat Daya district, located in Balik Pulau. He emphasized the aged and dilapidated condition of the clinic, emphasizing the importance of renovation for public convenience. Gooi also acknowledged challenges such as inadequate parking facilities at the health facility, indicating that these aspects would be addressed alongside service upgrades.
