KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 – Sun Life unveiled its inaugural “Asia Financial Resilience Index – Malaysia” today, shedding light on the financial behaviors and beliefs prevailing among individuals across the region. The report indicates that Malaysian millennials stand out as the most financially resilient generation, boasting high levels of optimism about their financial futures. However, despite their confidence, a significant proportion of them lack concrete long-term financial plans, potentially jeopardizing their financial goals.
Raymond Lew, CEO and President/Country Head of Sun Life Malaysia, emphasized the importance of financial planning in securing one’s future amidst today’s dynamic investment landscape. While Malaysian millennials exhibit a strong inclination towards making well-informed financial decisions based on research, the study underscores the pressing need for them to develop comprehensive long-term financial plans.
The Sun Life Financial Resilience Index not only highlights the optimism prevailing among Malaysians regarding their financial prospects but also underscores the importance of bridging the gap between confidence and preparedness. Although many Malaysians express confidence in meeting their long-term financial goals, a notable percentage lacks concrete financial plans beyond one year ahead. This discrepancy emphasizes the significance of equipping individuals with sound financial knowledge to bolster their financial resilience and ensure a secure future.
