KUALA KUBU BARU, April 26 – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has announced Khairul Azhari Saut, the acting division chief of Bersatu in Hulu Selangor, as its candidate for the forthcoming Kuala Kubu Baru by-election. The endorsement was made by PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the coalition’s headquarters for the by-election, solidifying Khairul Azhari Saut’s position as the designated representative for the Opposition coalition in the state by-election. Hailing from Hulu Selangor, Khairul Azhari Saut, a seasoned businessman, was chosen by PN leadership for his perceived capability to secure victory for the coalition in the upcoming electoral contest.
The announcement event was attended by key PN figures, including secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, Selangor Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, and PN national election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who also holds the position of menteri besar of Kedah. The Kuala Kubu Baru by-election, scheduled for May 11, will witness Khairul Azhari Saut contesting on behalf of Perikatan Nasional. On the opposing side, DAP’s Pang Sock Tao, housing and local government minister Nga Kor Ming’s press secretary, will represent Pakatan Harapan. The by-election was called following the passing of DAP’s Lee Kee Hiong, who had held the seat since 2013.
