PUTRAJAYA, April 26 – Police have confirmed that a package discovered at the cargo scanner of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) containing a bomb threat message did not contain any explosives. KLIA District Police chief ACP Azman Shari’at stated that investigations are ongoing under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal threat. The incident was reported at 1:30 pm when an officer operating the scanning machine detected a package addressed to someone in Limbang, Sarawak.
Upon scanning, the package appeared to contain a battery and wires, with the words “Beware, do not throw or it will explode” written on it. However, a subsequent examination using dogs from the K-9 unit revealed no explosives. Following standard procedure, the Bomb Disposal Unit was called in, and the package, which was found to contain a laptop and charging cable, was safely destroyed using a robotic unit. Thankfully, there was no explosion, and investigations into the matter continue.
