KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 – The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre hosted a 1-day workshop aimed at exploring how the business event industry can drive positive societal change through its stakeholders and events. Led by Geneviève Leclerc, a prominent advocate for social impact, the workshop saw participation from national associations, organizations within the business events supply chain, professional congress organizers, exhibition organizers, and the hospitality sector. In an era where associations and delegates seek more than just knowledge-sharing within conference walls, the workshop emphasized the importance of holistic destination experiences aligned with long-term impact goals.
By addressing local community needs and gaps, business events can leave lasting legacies, transforming mindsets, driving policy changes, and enhancing the lives of the local populace. John Burke, General Manager of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, highlighted the significance of such initiatives in driving positive societal change, affirming the venue’s commitment to industry development. Geneviève Leclerc, CEO and Co-Founder of #Meet4Impact, underscored the desire among business event delegates to contribute meaningfully to host communities. She emphasized the strategic alignment of conference missions with local priorities to ensure a lasting legacy of economic and societal impact.
The workshop provided a platform for knowledge exchange, combining classroom sessions with interactive activities and case studies to develop impact frameworks for future events. Looking ahead, the Centre aims to support associations in creating enduring legacies and welcomes feedback on how to positively influence the lives of Malaysians.
