PUTRAJAYA, May 3 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has directed the Malaysia Checkpoints and Border Agency (MCBA) to initiate its duties without delay, despite the related legislation set to be presented in Parliament in July. Anwar emphasized the need for all agencies under MCBA to deploy their personnel promptly to coordinate efforts and facilitate swift implementation and approval of entries, aiming to bolster security measures and combat smuggling activities effectively.
Speaking at the Home Ministry’s Aidilfitri celebration and the handover ceremony of MCBA’s terms of reference, Anwar underscored the importance of immediate action, urging all ministries and departments to heed the directive and deploy officers and personnel to the country’s borders. The MCBA, under the leadership of its first director-general Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali, is tasked with coordinating activities among security and enforcement agencies to strengthen border control and protection, a critical aspect of national security strategy.
