GEORGE TOWN, May 6 – Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced that the Northern Zone 2024 Madani Rakyat programme, held at Tapak Pesta Sungai Nibong, exceeded expectations with a remarkable turnout of over 200,000 visitors from the Peninsula’s three northern states. This figure surpassed the initial target of 100,000 visitors and even surpassed the turnout at the Bukit Jalil venue. Loke attributed the exceptional response to the effective organization led by the Ministry of Transport.

During the event’s three days, the Road Transport Department distributed 3,000 new helmets to visitors, indicating the high demand for such safety measures. Loke emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the public transportation system, citing initiatives like increasing the frequency of the Northern KTM Komuter route and the approval of the LRT Mutiara Line project to alleviate traffic congestion. Additionally, he highlighted the FlySiswa initiative’s success, with thousands of students benefiting from financial assistance, urging eligible students to verify their eligibility online to access the aid.
