KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 — Chaos ensued in downtown Kuala Lumpur this afternoon as a massive tree outside the Concorde Hotel on Jalan Sultan Ismail unexpectedly collapsed, likely under the force of strong winds and heavy rain. The fallen tree branches obstructed the monorail tracks between the Bukit Nanas and Raja Chulan stations, prompting delays in train services, as reported by MyRapid.
Social media users shared images of the fallen tree, which also struck a nearby bus stop or taxi stand, trapping vehicles passing through the area. The extent of the damage and any potential casualties remain unknown. According to Astro Radio Traffic, the incident caused significant congestion along Jalan Sultan Ismail, leading authorities to temporarily shut down both sides of the road in the bustling commercial district.
