HULU SELANGOR, May 8 — Pang Sock Tao, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB) state by-election, refuted allegations of election offences levelled against her and the party machinery. Denying any wrongdoing, Pang, 31, affirmed her commitment to adhering to election regulations and laws. Addressing reporters after overseeing the early voting process at the Royal Malaysian Police College multipurpose hall, Pang emphasized her campaign’s prudence and compliance with electoral rules.

Her remarks came in response to claims by PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, who accused the government of misusing assets for campaigning in the by-election. Asserting PH’s focus on securing victory for the Unity Government, Pang dismissed allegations as mere political rhetoric. Takiyuddin had threatened legal action through an Election Court petition should PH emerge triumphant in the by-election. The early voting process, which began today, witnessed the participation of Pang and her opponent Khairul Azhari Saut from Perikatan Nasional (PN).

The Election Commission reported a 24 per cent early voter turnout as of 9 a.m., with voting taking place at multiple locations, including the Royal Malaysian Police College and the 4th Infantry Division of the Royal Signals Regiment, Erskine Camp. The by-election, marked by a four-cornered contest, was triggered by the passing of the incumbent Lee Kee Hiong on March 21. Voting day is set for May 11 (Saturday).
