PUTRAJAYA, May 8 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to convene with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) this week to address the national oil company’s collaboration with Saudi Aramco at the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) in Johor. Anwar highlighted the need for discussions on an outstanding aspect of the project during the Finance Ministry’s assembly in Putrajaya. He indicated that while two crucial matters have been resolved, there remains a minor issue requiring a decision at the governmental level.

In October of last year, Anwar had previously emphasized Saudi Aramco’s commitment to expanding PIC, aiming to establish it as the largest hub in Southeast Asia by incorporating petrochemical and gas downstream activities. Saudi Aramco, renowned as one of the world’s leading integrated energy and chemicals companies, expressed enthusiasm about the Pengerang project, emphasizing its interest in both sustaining and potentially expanding operations in the future.
