PUTRAJAYA, May 17 – Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli announced that the Central Database Hub (Padu) system is prepared for the government to roll out various public programs, including targeted subsidies. Despite the system’s readiness, Rafizi emphasized that the government will implement the mechanism only at an appropriate time to prevent inflationary speculation.
Highlighting the importance of strategic timing, Rafizi noted that revealing the sequencing and schedule prematurely could lead to opportunistic price hikes by certain groups. “The government is managing the balance on how the market and society behave,” he stated. Launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on January 2, Padu aims to offer a secure and comprehensive national database, facilitating accurate data analytics, policy formulation, and targeted policy implementation to maintain fiscal stability.
