JOHOR BARU, May 20 — Malaysia’s Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, has assured the public that the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) movement in the country remains under control, following a recent attack at the Ulu Tiram police station in Johor. Saifuddin Nasution attributed this control to the Ministry’s sufficient database, which aids in managing cases related to such incidents. He emphasized the importance of continued interaction with individuals associated with such movements, ensuring their rehabilitation and preventing them from posing a threat to the community.

Acknowledging the incident’s severity, Saifuddin Nasution urged the public to refrain from speculation while advising the media to report based on factual information provided by the police. He underscored the need to avoid linking the incident to religion and emphasized granting the police space to conduct thorough investigations, reaffirming public order and safety as top priorities. In the attack, which occurred at 2:45 am yesterday, two policemen were killed, and another injured, alongside the 21-year-old suspect, believed to be a JI member. Authorities subsequently arrested five members of the suspect’s family for further investigation.
