GEORGE TOWN, May 20 – Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of the annual Trash Free Hill on 29 September 2024 (Sunday), marking its fifth edition since its inception in 2018. TFH invites individuals from all walks of life, particularly families, seasoned hikers, and corporate teams, to participate in this impactful clean-up drive. TFH is an annual plogging event aimed at raising awareness and advocating for the preservation of Penang Hill.
Serving as a platform to educate and foster environmental consciousness and responsible waste disposal, TFH has attracted a significant number of participants over the years. From its inaugural event in 2018, which drew 550 volunteers to remove 500 kg of trash, TFH has grown steadily, with the 2023 event seeing 904 participants contributing to the removal of 125 kg of waste, despite the event being rescheduled due to rain. By joining Trash Free Hill 2024 (TFH2024), participants play a vital role in conserving Penang Hill, ensuring its cleanliness, and preserving its status as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
This event not only safeguards the hill’s natural beauty for future generations but also provides an opportunity for families and corporations to bond while making a meaningful contribution.
