KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 – In October 2023, three telecommunications technology companies, including Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) and Telekom Malaysia (TM), conducted a 5G-Advanced network test using mmWave technology, showcasing data transfer speeds of up to 28Gbps. Today, during the ZTE – Unfolding The Intelligent Future event in Kuala Lumpur, the 5G-A network trial entered the Malaysia Book of Records as the “Fastest 5G-Advanced Live Trial” with the aforementioned speed.

This achievement was made possible through the collaboration of Telekom Malaysia’s infrastructure and expertise alongside ZTE’s mmWave technology. The utilization of mmWave spectrum is expected to position Malaysia as a leader in mmWave technology at that time. DNB also highlighted that their use of mmWave spectrum enables the provision of 5.5G experiences, laying the groundwork for future 6G technology. This collaboration between DNB and TM’s technology also opens up various opportunities in the corporate arena, particularly in the development of private 5G networks for various industries.
