MOUNTAIN VIEW, May 28 — Google has quietly rebranded its Chromecast built-in feature to “Google Cast,” marking a return to its original nomenclature. This move was announced at the recent Google I/O 2024 event, signaling a shift in the branding strategy for Android’s wireless connections to displays. The transition, while subtle, signifies a renewed focus on casting experiences across various devices.
Formerly known as Google Cast until its rebranding to Chromecast built-in in 2016, the feature remains unchanged in functionality. It allows users to seamlessly cast their smartphone screens to larger monitors, smart TVs, speakers, and car infotainment systems. With the shift back to “Google Cast,” the company aims to streamline its branding and maintain a consistent identity across its ecosystem of casting-enabled devices, ushering in a new era of wireless connectivity.
