KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 – Make-A-Wish Malaysia, in collaboration with Sunway Malls & Theme Parks, commemorated a significant milestone as they celebrated granting their 1000th wish to nine-year-old Ayra Medina, a neuroblastoma patient. The momentous occasion, dubbed “Pearl of Hope: A Royal Celebration,” witnessed Ayra’s dream of becoming a Mermaid Princess come to life amidst an enchanting setting at Sunway Lagoon.
Ayra’s wish began with a royal coronation ceremony at Pink Island, where she was crowned by the Princess of Selangor, YAM Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah binti Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and presented with an official pearl sceptre by Mr. Calvin Ho, Executive Director of Sunway Theme Parks. Subsequently, Ayra embarked on a transformative journey at the Surf Beach pool, donning her mermaid tail and wetsuit, joined by other life-sized mermaids for a seashell hunting adventure.
As part of the celebration, guests indulged in activities inspired by Ayra’s dream, enjoying royal mermaid makeovers, Underwater Selfie photo opportunities, and delightful Mermaid-themed cupcakes. Irene Tan, CEO of Make-A-Wish Malaysia, expressed gratitude for the support of donors and partners, emphasizing their commitment to spreading joy and hope to critically ill children. Calvin Ho, Executive Director of Sunway Theme Parks, extended congratulations on reaching the milestone, reflecting on the magical experience created for Ayra and her family at Sunway Lagoon.
Ayra’s father, Encik Muhammad Fizrullah, shared heartfelt appreciation for the memorable wish-granting experience, underscoring its profound impact on Ayra’s courage and the family’s renewed sense of hope. To cap off the celebration, Ayra and her family were treated to a royal stay at Sunway Resort Hotel, courtesy of Sunway Malls & Theme Parks, marking the completion of Ayra’s dream with cherished memories to last a lifetime.
