KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 – Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) has forged a strategic collaboration with China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) to explore future opportunities aimed at driving growth and innovation across the energy value chain. This partnership, marked by a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), underscores the commitment of both companies to ensuring a resilient and affordable energy supply while fostering economic development in the Asia Pacific region and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The collaboration will focus on sustainable growth in areas such as commodity and specialty chemicals, crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) trading, lubricants, and digital solutions. It also aims to drive decarbonisation efforts across various industries, including transportation, shipping, manufacturing, aviation, and power, thereby helping these sectors reduce their carbon footprint while remaining competitive.

Since their initial partnership in 1997 for exploration and production in South Sudan, PETRONAS and Sinopec have expanded their collaboration across gas and downstream sectors, including LNG and petrochemical products, supporting Sinopec’s gas terminal expansion and providing advanced, low-carbon energy solutions.
