PUTRAJAYA, June 6 — The Malaysian government has unveiled “Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka” as the theme for this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that while the theme, which translates to “Civil Malaysia: Independent Soul,” underscores the nation’s freedom from negative influences and promotes patriotism through social, economic, and cultural integration, the logo from last year’s National Day will be retained.

Fahmi highlighted that the theme reflects the unity and harmony among Malaysia’s diverse communities, emphasizing their strong individual identities. The celebrations will commence with the Waving of the Jalur Gemilang on July 13 and culminate in a grand parade in Putrajaya on August 31, with Malaysia Day festivities in Sabah on September 16. The “1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang” initiative encourages citizens to decorate their homes with the national flag to symbolize unity and patriotism. An official website has been launched to provide detailed information about the events.
