KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 — The Malaysian government has determined and set a date for the rationalisation of diesel subsidies, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli announced today. The specifics of the announcement will be revealed at an appropriate time to ensure a balanced approach and to mitigate the risk of inflation.
Rafizi emphasized the importance of carefully sequencing the implementation to avoid unnecessary inflationary pressures and prevent premature hoarding and smuggling of diesel. The Finance Ministry has indicated that private diesel vehicle owners and small-scale farmers can apply for Madani Subsidy Assistance, with eligible recipients receiving RM200 per month as part of the targeted diesel subsidy initiative.
