KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 — Microsoft and LinkedIn have released the 2024 Work Trend Index, highlighting the significant adoption of AI among Malaysian employees. The report, “AI at Work is Here. Now Comes the Hard Part,” reveals that Malaysian knowledge workers are utilizing AI more frequently than their global counterparts, with 84% incorporating AI into their daily tasks.
Despite this high usage, 66% of Malaysian leaders worry about their companies’ lack of a coherent AI vision, underscoring the need for organizational support to harness AI’s potential for business impact. K Raman, Managing Director of Microsoft Malaysia, emphasized the necessity for leaders to transition from AI experimentation to practical implementation. The report shows a surge in AI skills on LinkedIn profiles and a strong preference among leaders to hire candidates with AI expertise.
This trend is further supported by insights from LinkedIn’s Head of Sales for Emerging Markets, Rohit Kalsy, who noted that 62% of Malaysian business leaders would not hire individuals lacking AI skills. Prominent organizations like Permodalan Nasional Berhad and Johor Corporation are already leveraging AI to drive cultural and business transformations, setting a precedent for the region’s AI-driven future.
